C) AREA OF RESEARCH:

Since October 1993: medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging: functional brain imaging - methods of data analysis. Have developed and maintaine an software package for processing the fMRI data, that is being heavily used for many projects. Interested in the deveopment of new methods of statistical analysis for fMRI and their objective assesment. Working on the analysis of structure of the singal and noise in the fMRI studies. Developing the ROC (Reciver Operator Characteristic) method for objective assesment and comparison of different methods. Current effort are concentrated on: optimal methods of incorporating spatial correlation of signal into the analysis by using initial spatial filtering and cluster/neighborhood filters, methods of combining data from multiple studies to enhance power of analysis and methods of quantifying the statistical significance and intensity of fMRIdetected activations.

Until October 1993: Condensed Matter Theory - many-body problems, Magnetic Field, (Current)-Density Functional Theory, correlated electron systems, persistent currents, exchange-correlation effects in the electronic systems in a strong magnetic field.D) PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: January 1996 - present Associate Research Scientist at Yale Medical School - Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Is in charge of the data analysis in most of the fMRI projects run by this NMR research group. Works on the development of data analysis methods for fMRI. October 1993 - December 1995 postdoctoral fellow at Yale Medical School. Main project is concentrated on the imaging of the functions of the working brain. Have developed a software package for data analysis of the fMRI studies. This package is used intensively to handle most of the fMRI studies done Yale NMR research group. Have done some work on the tracking algorithms for the cardiac muscle using MRI phase velocity mapping.

1989 -93 employed as a teaching (first three semesters) and research (till graduation on September 1993) assistant at University of Missouri - Columbia. Working on theoretical calculations of the exchange-correlation energy of electron(hole) liquid in the strong magnetic field. Has published 7 papers (4 as a first author) in major journals and presented results in several conferences in USA and Europe.

1987-88 working for a computer company "Data-Start", as a computer programmer and system designer, programming in C, building data bases under QNX multi-user operating system and promoting this system.
